Butler, PA Office Continues Yearly Efforts to Provide Cancer Patients with Stockings

December 10, 2020

For several years, the One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning location in Butler, PA has partnered with the local Butler Radio Network for the Hang Tough: Stockings Stuffed with Love & Care program. Gary Schneider’s wife, Sharon, started the program, and she received the 2020 Woman of Legacy Award from the Butler Health System Foundation for her work.

Through the Hang Tough: Stockings Stuffed with Love & Care program, the community is invited to donate holiday stockings filled with items for cancer patients. More than twelve local businesses and organizations generously offered to be collection sites for these stockings. The team collected stockings for one month, ending on November 18 and were able to collect 1,485 stockings!

“In one way or another, cancer affects everyone in our community. Just bringing a smile to a patient who is undergoing treatment fills our hearts, especially this time of year,” said Chelynne Curci-Lang, the office’s marketing coordinator.

Stockings will be delivered by One Hour technicians to patients receiving chemo/radiation treatments to over ten local cancer centers, nursing homes, and hospice units.

“The patients are so very appreciative of the stockings! The patients who have received stockings multiple years, look forward to the visit from Mrs. Claus and her volunteer Elves,” Chelynne said. “The items inside the stockings are meant to provide comfort. But, the simple of act kindness for others, means so much more.”
